Your computer is hanging. Same old Windows, right? Except you’re using a brand new Windows 8.x or Windows 10 device; you’ve only had it a few days. So just what is going on?

Investigating, you discover that your system drive is running at 100%. Surely this can’t be right? Sadly, it is. The latest versions of Windows have a problem with the drives being over worked, which slows down the operating system. This issue affects both hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid state drives (SSDs).

Several fixes are available for this, depending upon what exactly is causing the problem.

  1. Hey when I open command prompt and I click run as admin Instead of C:WindowsSystem32> I am getting C:usersJohn> how do I fix this problem, Thank you.

  2. i just updated to W10 204 and my new HDD health dropped to 10% and it is utilizing 100% of it. Dont know why because I have Windows installed in SSD. Looking everywhere for a solution but couldnt find any till now. Im very upset and tired of Windows 10 new update 2004

  3. I simply stopped the windows module installer. Worked charmingly. My windows was downloading an update without my permission.

  4. I was at 100% usage at the beginning of the vid then somehow it went down to zero without me doing anything 🙂

  5. You are the freakin best man!!!!!!!!!! I had this problem for 3 years now and you found my solution of my pci express bugging

  6. PS C:Windowssystem32> sc config "DiagTrack" start= disabled

Set-Content : A positional parameter cannot be found that accepts argument 'start'.

    At line:1 char:1

+ sc config "DIagTrack" start = disavled

    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    + CategoryInfo : InvalidArgument: (:) [Set-Content], ParameterBindingException

    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PositionalParameterNotFound,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.SetContentCommand

    I'm getting this issue Help?

  7. PS C:Windowssystem32> net.exe stop superfetch

    The service name is invalid.
I'm getting these prompt when I wrote the command

  8. Honestly, Windows 10 is worse than Vista, and Vista was verifiably a deliberately released piece of software that was designed to be slow and buggy – there were leaks of microsoft staff suggesting that its a good idea to release an incomplete and unstable OS to the public. I honestly think the same happened again with windows 10.

  9. So, I tried all the suggestions to resolve the 100% disk usage, and none of them worked except Formatting and reinstalling Windows 10. I did this about a month ago and my laptop is running smoothly. I guess the thing about windows, it needs a refresh every 6 months or so. I have been running my Mac for 6 years on the same OS…and I thought my windows machine can get that sort of mileage…but lesson learned. I will reformat my windows laptop every 6 months.

  10. Plz anyone help. I am thinking to make these changes. Are these safe to do? I know in the video it says that these changes can speed up a computer, but are there any side effects/disadvantages to this??? Any help is appreciated!!!

  11. What does actually happen When it s at 100%,does it slow games or cause some freezes?
In some games it s at 0% and in others 100%
